Have just put a new hanger on my specialized elite allez 2004 due to coming off it and breaking the hanger..
Anyway put new hanger on and for some reason cannot get 1st gear on the back and the chain is rubbing on the front deraileur guard so l need to adjust the deraileur but don't know how to do it..
Can someone give me some help and if possible is there any cilps on how to adjust the deraileur on a specialized elite allez 2004..

Hi Ray.

Have a look on youtube. I would think most deraileurs are the same basic feat of engineering. Most of the videos I've seen don't specify a certain make or model and adjust in the same way through tightening or loosening screws and there are some very nice expensive looking bikes in some of them.

Hope this helps.

You'll possibly need to adjust the low stop. Do a google for Shelton brown gear adjustment or YouTube for derailleur adjustment.

If its changing fine in the other gears, then the limit screw needs backing off a little.l

Another vote for high and low stops on both deraileurs

I put a new rear mech on the commuter last week and even though its a like for like part i had to adjust the stops and re-index the shifter.

Agree with the above which should sort it. If not then the mech itself may have got damaged when the hanger got bent, it depends how bad the fall and damage was particularly if the jockey wheel cage got twisted.

If the mech is damaged then some bike shops will straighten it out for you or it is new mech time.
