Aren't there other threads on the very same subject?

Toeknee - I didn't think drops were for you, hence selling the Allez and getting the Quick? The two geometries won't be that radically different

Vickster I actually didn't like the more sit up position in the end, aswell as that the sky rides have taken a radicle turn from cycle tracks, to more road, and some of the climbs are going to be getting a little tougher.so I'm going to tough it out with the drops .

Cyclops, no it's nota poll I'm just interested in other peoples sizing on this bike, as it seems to vary vastly, from one person to the next.

Tony

Fair enough. You'd be best off going to the giant store in Liverpool and sitting on the bikes. They should have a defy in each size but phone first. They'll have the 2015 models which have changed a bit, not sure on the actual frame though

Defy come with a compact chainset so you may want to consider other models if wanting a triple for hilly bits. Ribble and Dolan are in the north west too I think with a good range, merlin might be too for cheaper or left field options

I think sizing is very much a personal thing. I used to prefer something that was at the top end of my size range but now I'm drawn to more compact frame. Depends what you feel more at home on.

Ermm.....vickster,

I already have the bike, I was just curious about the sizing, that was all really. Because I'm on the border of the medium been at my height limit, and the large a tad over, all should be fine when I've got used to a road bike again.

Tony.

You have the bike? Well either you think it fits or you don't. If it feels too big look at the stem length and bar width

Like I said , I think it's just me getting used to the position again, if nt I will look at fitting a shorter stem.

Thanks

Tony

Sorry to hear this Tony... you could always, as I did, put 25mm slick road tyres on the Quick, drop the stem down a bit and put some bar ends on - this will bring you forward and down a bit, and as those Ritchey wheels came off a road bike, there's no reason you won't keep up with drop bar bikes.

I'm 5 11 and ride a M/L Defy with a 90mm stem, I'd be surprised to be frank if the M/L was the right size for you... but you could try a zero setback seatpost, and an 80mm stem...

Hi,

I'm afraid I part exchanged the quick for the defy, so now I am selling the defy 2 for £450, or swap for a dale, Spesh, boardman ...etc, that is suitable for my size if anybody has anything to offer. Thanks for the advice.
