aero rages come in 36H varieties. I know cos I'm having a Sturney Archer S2C built into one. I think a fair few SA hubs may come in 32H but no one stocks them!

Oh, it does appear the CXP33 do come in silver 36 hole. Weirdly on Mavic's own website they only list the CXP33s as coming in black! I was going to ask Mavic a question but they have no contact details on their website! Ah the French approach to customer service...

Greg: SA do indeed do some 32 hole hubs, but not the 3-speed coaster hubs unfortunately. You can get some old SA hubs on ebay that take 28 hole rims! Not sure how I'd feel about twatting over a pothole at 30mph with a 4kg hub in the middle of a 28 spoked wheel!

You sure there are 36 hole Silver Aerorage rims out there? I can only find the black ones in 36 hole, and even on their website it only mentions Black 36H:

Again though, with a coaster on the back I can always go Aerorage 32H on the front and Aero Warrior 36 on the back. Just need to check they look similar.

P.S. Going for Silver as the frame is going to be painted British Racing Green. I can't see black working with that colour.

Dare I suggest Velocity Deep V's? They do have a bit of a hipsterish reputation but they're nice rims, not too deep at 30mm, and dead easy to get in silver 36 hole from Brick Lane Bikes. Brick Lane are the UK Velocity dealers so they might even be able to get you a pair of Velocity Fusion, which are shallower than the Deep V and even nicer IMO.

Just bumping this as the LBS that's building my bike has placed an order, after much procrastination.

Mavic are no longer making the CXP33s in Silver, and there are no silver 36-holes available. Bit stupid as even on Mavic's website describing the item, it shows an image of a silver one, then further down in the description says it's available in one colour: black.
http://www.mavic.com/en/product/rims/road-triathlon/rims/CXP-33

So, he's taken a risk.

Halo 36 hole Silver Aerowarrior on the back (SA hub so needs to be 36 hole, coaster brake so it doesn't need a braking surface)

Halo 32 hole Silver Aerorage on the front (need braking surface)

The dimensions are ever so slightly different.

Hopefully they will look ok. If they look obviously different, then it's time to look for another pair

You could consider the Rigida DPX - Rigida's equivalent to the Mavic CXP33 - comes in Silver and in 36H.

I got my new wheelset recently. 24mm depth.

I considered the aerowarrior + aerorage thing. For about five minutes. Can't be doing with the machined surface up front not matching the one the back. A bit anal I know but it was all I could do to cope with 36H rear 32H front!

What hub you using at the back?

Oh hey they look alright. Not quite as nice as the Mavics but if the Aeros look ass they'd make a decent compromise. Thanks!

Fortunately I'm not personally committed to the Halos, the shop owner's getting a bunch in anyway as they should sell well to the students. I know what you mean though, I think I'll accept it if they are only noticeably different on very close inspection - if you can tell the difference at a quick glance I'm not going to be comfortable with them.

Going for an SA S-R3C on the back. Aluminium 3-speed coaster hub.
