Next step after the frame goes to be resprayed is to work out what I want my wheels to be. Chap at the LBS is building them for me, and I'm budgeting £150 for the parts and labour.

I'm looking about online and can't seem to quite find the kind of thing I'm after - most of the usual websites seem to only sell very plain stuff, so wondered if anyone could recommend somewhere to look.

I'm after some deep-ish rims - not your huge 40mm+ deep section hipster fixie type jobs - while I like the look of them I'm not keen on what I associate with them! I'm thinking more in the 20-30mm bracket - a bit of depth and interest, but not too garish.

I'm erring towards black, but I have an open mind.

Anyone able to recommend anything?

I'd probably go for the Halo Aero Rage above or some Halo Mercury

I have some IRD Cadence Aero which are the same rim as the Mercury and they build up into a nice light wheelset (I raced on mine this year). However, they're light and that inevitably means that the braking surface is fairly thin so I'm not sure they'd make for a very long lasting wheel for year round riding.

ah those halo rims do look nice!

However i now find myself erring towards silver! Shame as it seems those rims only come in black.

Any similar options out there?

Maybe the halo aerotrack would be suitable? One thing i am struggling to find info on is what size tires they take. I'd quite like to be able to put on some 32s when things get rough.

Perhaps a bit Hipsterish, but check out the H&Sons rims - they are pretty decent, and will only look Hipsterish if the rest of your setup is Hipsterish

I've got them on my bike and it looks more like a simplified TT machine than a fakenger steed - add the fact that I ride it at speed and in lycra and no one out there is thinking I'm a hipster!

Ok bit more info - my rear wheel is going to have a SA 3-speed coaster hub on it, so the rear MUST be 36 spoke - this appears to be limiting my options ... can't seem to establish if the Mavics or Halos come in 36 variants - it appears they only go up to 32. Hmm...

Like i said, coaster hub on the rear, so won't be using rim brakes there. Don't have hub limitations on the front so can use a rage rim there.

mavic cxp33 is the rim for you (£100 pair) - black or silver (I hate silver rims)

cxp22 (with eyelets) or cxp23 (same rim without eyelets) offer cheaper alternatives.
