Im a fan of Kennedy tools at the moment for industrial use, excellent kit without the stupid price, it's as good as Facom though not Facom prices

Their was a limit set with the Snap-on guy, most i paid was about a fiver a week on the account, always paid otherwise it would mean twice the amount the next week, their was always something else on the van I'd be wanting so quicker it got paid the better.

Blokes tell me they are up to £80 a week.

Nobody ever regreted buying a quality tool. Same can't be said for the other end of the market though.

Ere! you have nicked my saying^_^ Nobody ever regrets buying quality!

Whilst we are on the subject, I hope all you guys negotiate with your local Snap-on guy, there is always a deal to be had.

I never even earned that much at the time:ohmy:, I wasn't married either till i was 24 (1974) so, I think good wages for a fitter 1974-75 was £40 pw. IIRC.

I was on £100 a week in 1976 at a Ford main dealer, the bonus was so easy if you worked it well. I did not take lunch breaks and drunk my tea whilst working, the average amongst most of the guys was about £50ish. Married in 1974 also, at 18 though.
