Hello.
I have never been a fan of the above shop, however I visited the local store (Bergerac) and noticed the " .Rockrider" 5.2 mountain bike.

It looked good upon, close scrutiny ....very good.
Seeing the price I bought it, (wished to try a mountain bike)

The price 269 euros( about 230 quid).

The machine is a delight to ride, done some gentle off road riding and on the road not bad, very comfortable compared to carbon framed road bikes.
Down side apart from being heavy ....none.

What a truly fantastic bike for an absolute bargain price.

Yours

Doug.

P.S. once again disproves the stupid old adage...."you get what you pay for"

p.p.s After some weeks riding I am still amazed at how good the bike is and the very small price.

The bikes at decathlon are very good for the money. Even my old Rockrider 5.1 is very reliable (if a little heavy).

I have the older version of the 5.2, basic MTB with a strong frame and reliable mechs. I paid £180 on clearance last year.

got the 2010 8.1 and it is very well specced for the £500 i paid for it. much better spec than £500 bikes from Evans or Halfords etc.
i liked it so much my son has a decathlon bike and i bought a road bike from em too. spare parts at decathlon are also good value too. have refurbished my wifes gas pipe BSO to get her back on a bike after 10 years, all with bits bought from decathlon for a damn sight less than halfords or evans wanted.

Found in the Yorkshire hills ...
Off to Decathlon Sheffield on Monday to look at a B'Twin Triban Junior for my 7yo as a present. The budget for a bike is £200 which takes a Islabikes Luath out of the equation and he's too small for a 43cm frame road bike, being only 125 cm tall. Stumpy, as he's now known, needs to grow a bit!

Their dry fit t-shirts are good value, only problem is avoiding being run down by chav kids on bikes and scooters in store, but perhaps that is just Essex.

Nope, many people have hobbled out of Wednesbury too.

Just as a side note, when Wednesbury were opening I applied for a job in their bike section... But was rejected. I wasnt too bovvered, they dont sell specialized.
