Not knowing Birmingham very well ... will it be easier or harder to get to than its present location - from the M5 or M6? (I'm obviously not a loyal enough shopper as I haven't been sent the details of the move).

Depends where you're coming from. Its at the junction of the m5 and m6 which can be a bit of a nightmare. Coming from the black country there's no real easy way to get there. Must be ok though as ikeas always busy ; I'm just annoyed because I could ride to the merry hill shop in ten minutes and they'd look after my bike in the workshop by the front door.

They seem to be going the same way as Decathlon, Nottingham. That one is next to Ikea.
I reckon this one will be next to Ikea Wednesbury.
The only good thing about going to Ikea is that Decathlon is there too.
IKEA at Wednesbury is a nice Sunday morning trip.
I go into Brum to the junction of New John St and Newtown Row and then straight up to the Scott Arms. Down to the Walsall ring road and across to J9.
As much coffee as you like in the cafe for a quid.
Merry Hill was a jaunt across through Cradley Heath and Lye.
The only good thing about Merry Hill is there's a Fitness First with FREE coffee.

I can confirm for you that Decathlon is opening it’s doors on the Gallagher Retail Park, Wednesbury on 18th November 2010!
This is a much larger site than in Merry Hill, and we will be accommodating a much greater range of stock.
The store is located only a short distance away from Ikea- something that I know a number of you have been querying.
To celebrate the opening we are promoting a number of different events and there will be a range of offers effective just for the opening period.
We are hosting an Exclusive Pre Opening event on Wednesday 17th November (limited places available).
This evening will be the first opportunity to see the new store, accompanied by champagne, food and £10 vouchers for every invitee. If you are a Decathlon fan already, it is not an opportunity to be missed!
