Day van - sales question

We are selling our partially converted campervan and a potential buyer is interested but he has been recommended to get a copy of the MOT and CVR. Now our van is a day van with crash tested two seat bed, poptop (fully tested AIUI) and a few other minor things along with the lining out /insulation. Plus some side windows. All done by a reputable local conversion company. We have never needed a habitation check for insurance reasons and never been asked for a CVR. AIUI CVR is commercial vehicle roadworthiness. I also read that is is only needed for reclassification. Since the DVLA changes for a motorcaravan reclassification it has been near impossible to reclassify even with a recognised after market conversion company doing the work so we never even thought of going that way. Besides it does not have what is needed to reclassify even prior to the changes.

So does anyone know what the deal with the CVR is? They are telling us to go to a website and pay £25 for a report on the van. That is not a CVR AFAIK and only give the kind of service you can get from AA or RAC on a vehicle check for buying a vehicle. Things like accident history, VIN and V5 check, credit on it etc. That IMO is not what a CVR is.

Anyone knows what this potential buyer is on about? He sounds genuine and said that he has been advised that the price is about right so could be a good opportunity to sell the van on.

Tell them to jog on. It's some random persons advice that doesn't sound like it applies.

Probably someone who likes to do things "by the book" and has heard something about CVR and got the wrong end of the stick.
I can't see any reference to the acronym, nor the full words, online.

Just say you've never heard such a thing and it's not required. If challenged, invite them to show you where, on the DVSA website, it says that campers have to have such a check. Or even a campervan conversion appreciation society page.

Then politely say "do you want it or not?"

Perhaps they're drumming up business for the website?

That was one thought we had. The sample report only contained things you could find out from the ABI and the .gov website anyway for free too. Tyre kicker but online tyre kicker perhaps.

A little AI-ish language / types of questions. Same with the other ones.

We had the van on for a lot more and nothing. I got 450 views on the site I was managing but no contact from anyone. Then we dropped the price a couple of grand and three enquiries in half an hour!! I think we have found the price for it so perhaps just time now to get the right person through the sites with an offer. It is a couple of weeks to MOT is due so we booked it in and then it is a year of MOT on it. We have to do that anyway and we said in the ad we would put it through before selling or May when due. Might as well.

Apparently it is a Commercial Vehicle Roadworthiness report. It is possibly needed before you can get an MOT but we have never had any issues getting it through an MOT so it can't be needed. I think it is for conversions from the chassis or similar and only needed for reclassified campers which this is not. Impossible to reclassify as a motorcaravan as it is not a full conversion and DVLA is not accepting them anymore unless some very strict criteria are met.

I think we basically said in the end we do not have this and he is welcome to check the van out before or after the MOT has been done. It is a tidy van with a newly reconditioned engine. Well maintained and tidy too. Not the usual white van conversion as it is a nice colour from new.
