I've just picked up a steel frame that purports to be a Dawes Windsor, but it has been re-painted at some stage, so the decals are obviously not original, and I'm not convinced they are even Dawes decals, they just look like someones bought a sheet of Letraset, rubbed them on and sprayed a coat of lacquer over them.
Anyway, the questions are, does anyone recognise the frame as a Dawes, any idea of a year(ish), and do you know where I can find any more information?
It looks very much like THIS one, (6th one down), the dropouts are the same, the lugs look very similar, the fork crown is the same, but the info on the lfgss one is very non-specific. Then the one below that is actually a Windsor that's had canti bosses fitted, but again the info is poor
All I can find on the BB shell is, DAVIS 60 COMPONENTS 62
It's pretty thick with paint so perhaps more details will come to light when I start to strip it back. I've looked around the other tubes in case there anything, on the chain stays etc, but I can't see anything else at all.
So here it is, it's going to take some work, but it should build into a nice something or other at some point in the future. Any info that could help me pin this down would be appreciated.

I certainly didn't need it, SWMBO isn't best chuffed, and I won't be building it into anything in the near future but I just want to try and find out as much as I can as I've never had anything Dawes before.
