Made for good viewing IMHO., even if it was a touch melodramatic in bits.
Whatever, it was still a brilliant achievement, done in some horrible conditions. As a detester of wind and rain, I felt her pain. Well done Davina!

Her mum was a total bitch and rejected her, don't you think there's an eagerness to please that may be related? Melodrama. I'm not taking anything away from what must have been a very painful journey.

She needs to find some peace, and find it soon - cos she's inflicting her pain on us, we're not her mother!

We gave up watching it... but came away thinking with the support crews for every single step/swim/pedal part of it, the Police, the fixers, and back-up / security/ maintenance and cost of all the arrangements and then the cost of filming everything, couldn't they have saved an awful lot of time and waste and donated all the money it cost to stage it instead... Sorry, I may have suggested this earlier but can't be bothered looking...

I gritted it out to the end, and don't reckon you missed anything much. Unless of course, you needed a lesson in how not to prepare for an endurance event.

Compared with John Bishop's heroics a year or two back, or Eddie Izzard, this just made me think "good on you for doing it, but couldn't you have done it properly?". Why on earth hadn't she done any running up until 5 weeks before having to run a marathon distance? Club runners (ie people who are already fit and running regularly) generally take 12 weeks to prepare for a marathon. Starting from scratch would take much longer than that. Why didn't she just get the preparation done properly?

Why was she sore on the saddle? Surely she had done enough hours in preparation to have found the right saddle and got hardened to it, and if not, why not? Why was she on a bike which didn't have a low enough gear for her? One of her rides I worked out at having been at less than 10mph, which shows she just didn't do enough miles in training......but good on her, she did at least do 3 long consecutive days in the saddle. Why hadn't she done an open water swim in training?

And did she really have to cry all the damn time?

Plenty inner peace here. You and others seem to be making a connection between me highlighting an alternative view to the fawning praise and me being bitter/angry/spiteful/enter word of choice. But if it makes you feel better to attack me then that's fine; your view of me does not impact on my emotions or feelings about myself.

Leave her alone, she's just an ordinary attention-seeking 'celebrity' doing her bit to stay in the media spotlight.

Every day, in every way, you are getting better and better.

I'm reminded of comments made by Paul Daniels about home improvement TV programmes. He couldn't understand why TV companies would spend in excess of £100,000 per episode to make a television programme about refurbishing a house to increase its value by £20,000. He thought is an odd concept and a complets waste of money and not a very entertaining concept.

It is a bit of an odd thing. The public who generally do not do the activity would see cycling 90 or 120 miles as a mega thing and rather superhuman. I have known people to be aghast at me doing 20 miles on the bike.
I have cycled 300 miles in 3 days which is about the rate Davina was at and done a 100 on a cold January day I am sure there are many on here who have done much more than that. Most of us here know that with a decent run up, it all should be manageable and with no drama. We have no back-up and just get on the bike and off we go. We just cycle off and if we are lucky get the train home at the end.

But then that is not good TV. There has to be drama, will she make it? The aim is to see her suffer for a few days not simply cycle 500 miles.

In that she is really good. Davina is perfect for the job. Not a super athlete. If Victoria Pendleton had done it with ease then it would get little attention. Davina was perfect at making it look hard and raising money. Which is what she was supposed to do.

Some interesting points from this that I have seen on CC before but worth a note- The public see cycling as hard. When you first get on a bike the first few rides are really hard. When they then see someone suffering while cycling, surely it puts them off! To most of us, even on a ride that is pushing our limits we enjoy it and we don't suffer, need medical attention or our friends and family flown in to comfort us. It would be good to see people enjoying cycling on TV. That may get a few more on their bikes.
