They'd have probably charged you more for an imagined "lulled into a false sense of security" type scenario.
What made me laugh was they quoted £18.81 including the £15 admin charge to swap the cars over, she asked if there were any modifications which I had said no, so then said quote me with a towbar as I will need to put on on for the bikes. Came down to £15.52 LOL

What happens when the capacitor dies? As a radio ham I've replaced more capacitors than Diane Abbot has messed up interviews.

they call 'em "supercapacitors" and are designed to handle being cycled from fully charged to zero repeatedly. Probably dry up like electrolytics eventually but not for at least 10-15yrs right?

whereas a lipo battery is only really good for 300-500 cycles, 1000 max... those little ones in dashcams get charged at powerup then get drained fully every shutdown. Plus they get cooked under sun + windscreen glass.

Well, my son's cam has come in handy - rear ended last night.

I've just fitted the one my son bought me for my birthday. £39.99 for an 'Apeman' front and rear camera. Easy to wire in, loads of cable for the rear that's hidden in a rear panel. Awaiting a hard wire kit, that uses a fuse 'piggy back' - it plugs into the ciggy lighter fuse socket and you can then run it permanently to toe camera, leaving the 12v/ciggy lighter socket free.

My youngest daughter's did last year when she hit a parked car at a supermarket. The driver was not around, so she waited for him to turn up. When he did, he claimed he was not bothered about the repair as it was his wife's car! I advised my daughter to report the accident to her insurer, even though she was not making a claim for her damage and to tell them of the footage which supported what she was telling them. Six weeks after the accident she was contacted by the other driver's solicitors making a personal injury claim.
