I'd just grease it

I'm not confident that the copper grease will arrest the corrosion.

If you stop the air from getting to it, then it will stop oxidising. Jenolitemakes crust, but I'd not be convinced that the flex wouldn't chip this off over time.

You're supposed to wipe Jenolite off after it's dissolved the rust, so I'd go with your original plan.

All steel frames will rot from the inside out and this is a problem that will always affect them, this is why you should always be wary when buying old frames I have snapped a few in my time. There are products that will slow the process but the rot will get into every tube eventually. I used to warm a frame up by leaving it on a radiator for a few hours then use waxoil and turn the frame to get as much a possible to get a thorough internal coating. It adds weight though. Most frames will have internal holes at each join. This is why frames used to move down the pecking order from best bike to hack to scrap.
Waxoil will leak out of drilled bottom brackets on a hot day so not a good idea to leave a bike on your best rug.

Don't know if this was any help or just me rambling again.

I can see no harm in Jenolite so why not and best of luck.
There used to be very few alternatives to waxoil other than old engine oil, there are probably plenty of other better products to swill around the tubes nowadays, it is always a good idea to protect the unpainted inner surfaces whatever way you may choose some frame builders used to claim to dip their frames but who knows. I still ride old steel and this reply has just delayed me getting on my 30 odd year old frame that has been waxoiled from new.

all the best Gaz

You can get copper paste in a spray, we use tons of the stuff in our garages, far better than waxoil if you can get to all the nooks and crannies with the airosol straw.

This is daring I know but I spray GT85 on the seat posts as it lubes but stops rust. I do it regually, think this actually does anything?

How do I set up a poll?
The neutrals are in the lead at the moment

So, Paul and L14M. Shall I use Jenolite?
Thanks for the suggestion of Copper Anti-Seize Paste 400ml by Ambersil

Are any steel frames given anti rust treatment at point of manufacture? It would seem like an obvious thing to do, especially for more expensive bikes.

Well Cyclopathic, it's a Raleigh Mirage so it's well-made. Shining a torch down the tubes show that not as much care was made of internal as the external. The paint job being superior to my Dawes Galaxy!

go with the jenolite. it reacts with the rust to neutralise it. you need to wipe it off once it has done its job.
some grease around the post and job done.
