My OH has the Carrera Subway 1 disc, and absolutley loves it!

Id have to have laughed if I'd seen you fall off! I hope you don't have any health issues as a result.

Carrera has been great so far - really enjoying it. So much so that my first instinct was to save it and not me!
Went out for a ride today and it seems to be ok, bit squeaky at the front but hopefully nothing major!

I'm glad you like it! Just keep an eye/ear on the squeaking, you might be able to narrow down where it's coming from and then find the cause. My daughter collected hers yesterday, sent me a pic, she lives away; nice looking bike!

I think if my bike went in the canal I'd give it a full strip down, clean and relube. But that to me is an enjoyable way to spend a Sunday afternoon in any case.

Frames have drain holes in them at various places so most of the water should drip it's way out. Find the lowest ones, probably under the crank and bottom of forks and make sure they're not bunged up with small fish or other pondlife.

Glad you are still smiling.

I changed my tyres a little while ago and was surprised by the amount of water which had collected in the old ones following a rainy ride or two a week earlier !

It might be an idea to let the air out, ease the tyres off on one side & let any water out of the wheel rims.

Looks like the bike may not have enjoyed its swim after all - or maybe i've damaged it when I was rescuing it. Took it out for it's first 'proper' ride yesterday since the canal and all seemed ok for the first 15 miles, but then it started making this really high pitched squealing noise. I think it's coming from the front wheel. So i got off and looked at the wheel (no idea what i was looking for) but it looks like wheel isn't straight in the frame (fork?!) If i look straight on it's much closer to the right than the left, about a cm difference
I'm going to take it to a local bike shop on Friday - it is just about due its free service in Halfords but I don't really trust them! Would rather pay money and get it sorted. Hopefully it's nothing serious but at the same time yesterday was the toughest ride I've had so I wouldn't mind a little 'tweak' that would make it easier to ride

Maybe fork or wheel are bent, but have you tried releasing the wheel then refitting it? Just in case it's a simple as that

High pitched squeals normally emanate from the jockey wheels on the rear dérailleur. Lift the rear of the bike and spin the pedals, see if it squeaks. If it does, there's the problem. If not, lift the front and spin the wheel. Either way you'll know for certain which end is squeaking and then it can get narrowed down. At least you go into halfords armed with some knowledge.
