I've checked and I was told wrongly this is not the case. I have found this guide that may help with a claim.

Quite right about microchipping been law since 2016. Control of Dogs Order 1992 still requires collar and id tag.

Glad to hear Mrs 26 is on the mend.

If the dog owner has pet insurance, it will almost certainly include 3rd party liability cover for events like this - our pet insurance does. Equally they may well have cover under their house insurance.

Possibly worth a chat with them as they may have no idea of the costs involved for repairing / replacing the damaged stuff, and go from there.

Yep - my approach would have been to claim from our insurance but Mrs 26 wants to explore the landscape first. She's not bothered about compensation for her injuries tho'.

It's all very well say that, but there are a lot of people that are living hand to mouth and any sort of bill from an accident will be a mighty blow to them, the glasses were £700 that's a lot of money in anyone's book.

it can get a bit nasty. On the insurance front dog owners are required by law to hold 3rd partly cover so that's an option for a claim.

Registered dog walkers are required to have insurance. Dog owners per-se are not legally required to have 3rd party insurance, unless the dog goes into a work place on a regular basis.
