cyclo-cross bike for 10 year old

Young SJB competed in his first cyclo-cross race tonight (Yorkshire summer league) after going to a local Go Ride club for the last year. He had a great time (tried so hard he threw-up half way round the second lap) but suffered for riding a MTB with huge nobblies. He seems keen and wants to ride a couple more events this summer, and maybe the winter too.....might even shame his very out of shape Dad to have a go

As he's coming up to the age and size for a new bike anyway, we're contemplating a specialist 'cross bike that could also be used for family rides (30-40 miles, mainly on road) at weekends.

Any advice on makes / places to look for such a bike very gratefully received....

Another vote for Isla Bikes..

My 2 girls have both got them and they are great. Eldest is 9 1/2 and she has the Luath 26. It came with Cross tyres on it but I have just bought a set of 28C Gatorskins for summer use. It is also really light - can't fault it.

Apparently, they also hold their value really well so are easy to sell on without losing a fortune.

Come to a West Midlands Cross league meeting in the winter and I would say you will see 70% of the kids from age 5 to 14 on Isla Bikes!

Yep..and me!

First season for all of us last year. I did 5 and they did 4.

Hopefully we will try and do a couple more next year.
