Bonus points if you manage to overtake the 747
Ben Lovejoy said:Yes, and a cyclist, motorcyclist or car driver has a duty to overtake safety. Specifically, you may not overtake if you cannot see that it is safe to do so.
Rules of the road do apply to cyclists too, you know.

we should have jaywalking like the yanks
jeez
Ben Lovejoy said:Indeed. It always amazes me the way some people will bend over backwards to defend cyclists just because they're cyclists. Substitute driver for cyclist, and cyclist for pedestrian, and we'd have a complete reversal in attitude from the minority who seem to think cyclists can do no wrong.
Fine - a challenge then. For one day, try walking everywhere using only zebra crossings, pelican crossings and controlled crossings at traffic lights.Tynan said:if you think the idea of apedestriancyclist wandering around in a road with cars, buses, trucks, motorbikes all moving at speed across thepedestrian'scyclist's path while there's perfectly goodcrossingscyle paths is a good one then fine, fill your boots.

an HGV overtook me and slammed on the brakes, a ped decided to cross in front of him from his right
If a vehicle has stopped at a pedestrian crossing to let a pedestrian cross, then you shouldn't go past them

Tynan said:yes I know the HC, ... undertaking slow moving traffic is perfectly legal and part and parcel of London cycling

So cyclists are, according to you, allowed to overtake whether or not they can see that it is safe to do so?Tynan said:
