Good lord, wishing her all the best.

At risk of having this thread shunted elsewhere, I notice there is no mention in the article about whether she was wearing a helmet - and this thing actually fell on her head! And yet when a cyclist breaks a leg, they rush to report if they were or weren't wearing a helmet....

“It’s just outrageous that this can occur, they are very lucky that I happen not to be dead.”

Glad to see she's got her priorities straight, i wonder which big time solicitor she's with?

personally i'd be glad I was not dead...

Mate of mine saw this happen, horrible - glad to hear she's ok-ish. From what he said, she wasn't wearing a helmet.

Actually you make a point the anti-cycling helmet nazis are usually all over this in the local press (although if it's an iron girder, I can't imagine that a thin piece of polystyrene is going to do much!

Typical bloody Oxford academics. While the rest of us get hit by everyday objects like cars and trucks, they get hit by cerebral things like Girder and Faust. :hello:

Me, coat, get!

Its noticeable that because she was hit on the head by a falling girder the HSE are getting all excited. Had she been flattened by lousy driving of a truck leaving the construction site they would have returned to their siesta because its "just one of those things"

While it may not have done much its quite clear her head managed to do quite a lot. And yet the usual presumption is that a thin piece of polystyrene can ward off a 30 ton truck while the head will cave in if tapped with a teaspoon.

actually thats wrong , the traffic management plan would be inspected and if deemed to be unsuitable a prosecution would be sought. had the truck been away from the site then the statement you made may would apply .
