Luckily it was caught on camera by the motorcyclist. My bet is plod will do f_ck all prosecuting the woman driver who drove into the cyclist. However the cyclist will be given words of advice about the 'poor' standard of his cycling.

Hope the cyclist is ok. Luckily he was wearing a h e l m e t .

You can tell he was drunk or high from just watching the footage ?

Doesn't matter what his condition was as he had right of way. The moton turned across his path knocking him flying.
According to the end of the footage and the youtuber he admitted to drinking and smoking weed to the police.

In what way would his having taken drink cause the driver to turn across him?
I seem to fail to recall me stating that since the cyclist was drunk and high it was the direct result of the taxi pulling across him.
Him being drunk and high likely didn't help the situation.
Slower reaction time, failure you recognise changes yada yada
This is me in no way saying the taxi had no fault but the actions of the cyclist had only negative effects in his ability.

And how did that make the driver turn across him?
I didn't say that it did result in the taxi pulling out on him. His lack of visibility was likely the main culprit of the taxi pulling across him.
In for a penny in for a pound

If you think the visibility was the problem, say so. Don't drag irrelevancies in, it weakens your point.
Him being drunk and high played a part as well. It reduced the riders ability to respond to the situation. By the looks of the video he didn't respond at all.
Again like every crash there is no a single problem. It is multiple things interlinked to create a event.

Unfortunately, (whether it be right or wrong morally, and whether he had right of way or not), the fact the cyclist had been drinking and smoking weed WILL be deemed relevant.

He has handed the defence a gift in that they can argue that had he been free of the influence of alcohol and drugs he could have taken measures to avoid the accident or to mitigate its severity.

Whatever the severity of the accident, it seems to me that what the cyclist had been drinking or smoking would have no bearing at all on the standard of driving of the taxi driver.

And if his lights meet the relevant legal standard, nobody has any business opining that he's at fault for not going above and beynd that standard, It's not even as though it was an unlit road.

Being under the influence of alcohol and dope made his reaction to the situation slow. He could've swerved if his head was clear. Also his poor lighting and wearing a dark non reflective jersey led to the motorist momentarily not seeing him.
