Yet again, it's worth posting this link and encouraging people to read it:

The number of cyclists killed in London has remained pretty stable over the last few years at around 11 - 13 a year, which around one a month. Despite a very significant increase in cycling. So six so far, in 5 months, is about what you'd expect.

Cycling is very safe, people.

I agree.

But the disproportionately high number of women killed remains largely unexplained.

Its been on the local news today. Apparently the local council are going to widen the cycle path and also put in a grass verge where they can between the road and the cycle path rather than right next to the road. They don't seem to be commenting on the calls to reduce the speed from 60 mph, which given there is a housing estate (new) on one side, and the school on the other (presumably plenty of them walking and cycling along beside the road), and the only way to cross the road is either traffic lights or a stepped bridge it does sound like it should be 40 at least in the area near the development/crossing point.
