RIP. Sends a shudder down my spine.
I ride this every day...although use the cycle lane more often than not now.
I've heard or seen nothing on the local news....there was what looked to be a bad cycling accident on the Roundabout Hotel roundabout coming from Porchester right on the corner by Cams on Sunday morning as I cycled past it...alot of police cars/ambulance, etc....not sure if this is the one or if there's been 2 bad ones in a week.

My wife saw that (I guess not long after it had happened). Think it was a 4X4 of some kind and two riders. One was sat in road holding head

I ride through there on most of my rides.. you certainly need your wits about you.

There are actually some good cycle tracks around this area that can alleviate some of the problems You can leave the A32 at Hoeford and not rejoin roads until Portchester almostWhat is weird is the lack of a report. The local rag describes   two accidents but neither was a cyclist. There is also mention of delays due to a broken down bus.

I noticed that too today, no one is reporting the story.
The portsmouth news will generally mention all of the serious cycle accidents.

Still not in there!
News of a motorcyclist slipping on oil from an accident and going to ground without serious injury thank goodness. This happened about 400 or so yards up the road from the main roundabout.

I hope it's all a nonsense and never happened at all

There was a collision reported on the Daily Echo website, however this was in Millbrook road and the guy suffered serious injuries but relatively "ok", its also miles away from Fareham. A quick google in the news section of google search with the term cyclist doesnt show anything.....

...though as I remember from when I was hit and put in an ambo in 08 that wasnt reported either. I guess it depends on a number of factors as to whether it ends up in the news (appeal for witnesses, has a member of the public reported it to the paper, etc)

I read Frday's printed copy of the News and there was a half page spread about the 2 accidents that closed the Delme flyover. Mr someoneinsignificant , aged 45, was complaining that he was 2 hours late doing the school run and Gosport comes to a standstill if there's anything happening in Fareham. Nothing about the cyclist being killed - nice to see the world has it's priorities right.

I cycled to work through the congestion and hit the back streets which were empty (as usual). It's suprising how many motorists will sit in traffic for 2 hours despite the traffic news on the radio because they get in the "must go my normal way" mode and don't have a clue about navigating somehwere different.

My sympathy to the family.

Cyclist incident was on the Castle in the Air/Bird in the Hand roundabout. Cars/motorbike incident on Delme flyover.
