V02 effort yesterday and Amalgam, after a warm up, today. Both pretty comfortable, raised the last efforts yesterday by 5-10% with little ill effect. 10 min at ftp 225w today comfortable amidst the other efforts so perhaps i need to assume my ftp is set a little too low. I am certainly not doing any kind of test or race to find out for a few weeks more^_^

Some low tempo efforts this afternoon, legs felt good. Garmin has upped my VO2 max estimate to 57. Not bad considering I will turn 57 this year. Got some threshold efforts tomorrow.

Happy with this progress (and having the fitness of an 20yo 😂😊) although to be clear I didn’t have a working HRM for early part of the year which must explain the missing data. Also I’m a good bit below where I was 3 years ago - targeting high Cat B for the autumn Zwft season (low B 2 months ago)

How old are you, in your 30s / 40s?

Although I'm not sure how much I believe these figures.

I haven't figured how to make this work for indoor riding.

I think I have to link power, heart rate chest strap and possibly cadence to the Garmin watch for it to work out my V02 .

I must do a minimum 20 min race or something with near maximum effort to get a calculation.

Is that it?

I think it’s just calculated based on a best fit equation of some sort based on resting, max, heart rate and power data. I don’t think you need to do a specific effort, just lots of activities on devices which do the estimates. For instance I don’t get any VO2 output from my turbo sessions which have heart rate, power, cadence etc, same as outdoors.
