Cycling UK vs British Cycling

Sorry if I’ve put this 8n the wrong sub forum. I know both of these organisations provide pretty good things like insurance for cyclists. Would appreciate some insights and opinions from members before I part with my cash. Thanks all.

I chose CyclingUK was cheaper for me, and less race orientated. If they were the same price I'd probably still go with CUK as I'm not interested in the racing aspect of cycling outside of watching the odd race here and there.

Just a thought - compare the member discounts if there is something you buy regularly or want specifically as it might be worth getting one over the other if you can save something.

BC is better if you race (or British Masters Cycling) rather than Cycling UK, hence why I'm with BC.

When Cycling UK was still known as CTC, it was a membership club that offered discounted membership for people over 65.

When they became a campaigning charity they dropped the Over 65 discounted rate and unless in receipt of means-tested benefits the cost is £52pa

Sort of. CUK still do the concessionary rate for those who's sole income is a state pension.

They "recommend" them but go on to mandate them for their own events.

Whether this is a good or bad thing is for The Other Board, but it's a fact that people may wish to take into account.

i have just looked at the web site,i was thinking of stopping cycling after having vertigo for six or more weeks this year.But that seems to have settled.So i might cycle again in 2025.Now a stupid question ,Do you have to have a London postcode to join.The fee is fantastic a great saving.

And any events buying their insurance, which they promoted heavily, seizing most of the market, leaving Cycling UK as one of the few non-forcing providers for charities and they don't bundle an entry management system with it.

It's the same for BC insurance if you have a collision with another BC member.
