I'm bloody raging. I bought a Team GB cycling top from Aldi and wore it for the first time on Saturday. I filled the 3 back pockets with my phone, two mars bars and a banana. I went in and out of the pockets a few times during the day. I've got small hands for a man and don't think I'm particularly heavy handed. However, when I got home, I noticed that the stitching from the pockets had come away and there were two big rips. Its either very poorly made or I'm very heavy handed. I would have thought it would have been able to take a bit more than this though!

Take it back. I personally do think you get what you pay for with cycling gear

Oh and you may want to reconsider having your phone in your pocket, the batteries can explode if they get damaged, ie in a fall! Put it in a bag

I was considering taking it back but they don't have any left to give me and I do like the top. Ordinarily I would definitely take it back. Going to get it repaired at an alteration shop and put it down to experience.

I put another posting on about a bag on the crossbar - maybe going to put my phone and stuff in there instead.

I'd still take it back for a refund rather than spend more money. Loads of nice jerseys out there in the sales. Make sure you get all of the seams reinforced when repaired

I've linked a crossbar bag on your other post

It wont help you but........I went to purchase one, took it out of the bag and.....put it back. Yes, a good price but really thin material and flimsy zips.
As @vickster says......you often get what you pay for.
I got a couple of summer tops from Sports Direct (dearer than Aldi) they are in thier 2nd season and have been fine.

To be honest I'm more worried about my phone being shaken out of my pocket and bouncing down the road. I usually have mine in a soft case to add a degree of protection. My Vulpine jerseys have buttons which feels more secure

Been there, done that.

On a ride with some pals, my Cateye tail light fell off and a following car ran over it. The light wasn't saveable but I did pick up my expensive rechargeable batteries which seemed okay aside from a couple of dents, popped them into the back pocket of my jacket and rode on. About 30 seconds later I had this hot sensation at the small of my back and commented on it. My mates started to laugh (thanks guys) and shouted "Your jacket's on fire!" When I stopped I realised they weren't kidding and whipped it off, the batteries falling out of the pocket onto the road.

They were spinning, oozing a dark foamy gel that was alight and popping every few seconds.
I'd been saved from burns by my peanut butter sandwich, which was now lightly toasted.

I bought one of the tops. And the shorts. And the rain jacket. FKW, if you will.

The tops's OK, I do like the fact that it's a full length zip. Handy on a hot commute. I've not had the issues you have, but I don't tend to stuff my pockets.

I think the shorts, for the price, are excellent. Decent material, lace up fastening at the top and good padding. Ideal for 2-3 hour rides.

The jacket's fine too, but I can't vouch for its rain resistant properties.

I've got a couple of the tops - fine for the summer and at that price I can live with it if they only last one season.

The Team GB gloves looked like a bargain but are best avoided, worn twice and the stitching is splitting. But worse is that they're not colour fast and after getting caught in a shower they've leeched blue dye all over my white bar tape. I emailed Aldi who couldn't have been less interested.

I bought all 3 items too.

I agree that the shorts are great and they do feel of good quality. I'm really disappointed with the top - why give you pockets if they are going to rip. I've not worn the jacket in wet weather either!

The gloves are crap. I think Aldi's gloves are, generally, for anything longer than about a two hour ride.

I wore a pair of their gloves on the London Surrey 100 last year and finished up with temporary nerve damage in both hands (worse on the left). This was down to a combination of lack of padding and the seams cutting in between my fingers and stopping the blood flow.

I got a pair of Garneau mitts this time around, no problem whatsoever.
