I wear Assos Ultraz in the winter and their Spring/summer socks the rest of the year.

These seem just the job if it's style you're looking for...

Was going to say Pongo but a quick Google suggests they have gone out of business.

Madison do some 3 packs that are decent quality.

DeFeet are generally good.

TBH Rapha Pro Team take some beating.

TBF, I wear the Rapha Pt socks as well. I know it is personal preference but I haven't found anything that are as comfortable and last as long. I wear them a lot and still have pairs 7 or 8 years old that are in good nick.

On the other hand, the newer version of the winter sock were disappointing quality wise. Bought 2 pairs in 2024 and the toe seams came apart on both within weeks. Fit and warmth was great but stitching was naff.

I never paid that much attention to socks, and have many brands, Defeet, Altura, Cannondale, Castelli, Rapha, Pongo, and many others.

Due to wanting specific colours, back in the day when Wiggle/CRC were still a reputable company, I ordered some Gripgrab SL long socks, and they truly feel luxurious, and are a notable step up for me, over every other pair I have tried.
One note of caution, they do size up larger that you might think, so even though I am a UK10, the medium is exactly the right size for me.

Back in the day I used to be able to get these for £10 a pair, not so easy now, but I already have my sock stock of yellow and black pairs :-)

I've been really impressed by the socks from Banana Industries that I picked up for a few quid a pair.

I like a fitted cycling sock with a bit of design, nice writing on the sole, L/R specific, good cuff and also can be worn as a regular sock with a pair of jeans, trackies, shorts etc. The BI merino's tick all the boxes.

Watch out for free socks that sometimes come with the official glossy Tour de France magazine. Three pairs: Yellow green and polka dot. Mind you, that was a couple of years ago. Last years "freebies" were rubbish. Beer mats I think.

Yes, I know. There's no such thing as a free sock.
