It only required a flick with the thumb to loosen the strap. Mind you, on the fixed-wheel you had to catch it near the top of your pedal stroke.

On this occasion I was approaching the traffic lights as they were changing , being full of vim and vigour I decided to get out of the saddle and go for it . Which is when I noticed the white Rover 3500 parked across the road, with the 2 gentlemen inside paying attention to what I was doing . So I came to a very quick and undignified stop. Which resulted in scrapes and bruises and an impressive egg on my head. Did they check how I was ,no. Long time ago but I’m sure I was on fixed.
