I am one of those who marinyork calls resistant to clipless. I have beeen on toeclips since the mid eighties. I had clipless, spds, on my best bike for six months last year and hated them. I also didn't get any advantage from using them and I was glad to go back to toeclips. I woulden't put clipless on the fixed I use for general running around, I would not want to lose the flexibility of being able to wear what shoes I want. I might try cliplesss again on my best bike, but a different make, just in case it was the spd's themselves. But for now I will continue to use cycle shoes and toeclips on the club runs.

re. mtb style spds: ime, non-shimano ones (e.g. crank bros, time) are awful - ok to get out of, but difficult to clip into. shimano ones seem to guide your feet into the pedals by comparison. decathlon probably don't suffer from this problem as they look like they've basically copied shimano's M424s, but they are a non-mud shedding design (like the 424s.)

No but not replying to a thread he started or a private message is rather rude.

A simple no thank you would be a start.

He's probably out enjoying the Christmas/New Year festivities. Some of us have lives away from the forums. He maybe hasn't seen your offer let alone been rude. Don't take it to heart.

Fair point. Sorry - cos I had to work over Xmas sometimes I forget "normal" people get holidays.

Just finished six 13 hour nights so I'm a little tired.

Happy New Year
