I'm the opposite - I've been diabetic for years, taking two different drugs to try to control bm
Two months ago , I started eating a low carb high fat diet and the results are amazing.I've lost 13Kg so far (another 20 to get to target weight) , my blood sugar is what it should be for a non-diabetic and my cholesterol levels / ratio much better
I have more energy and am much happier to exercise.Just started cycling again after maybe 30 years (I'm 45) , and have no issues with energy.Once the body gets used to metabolising fat instead of carbs, it's plain sailing. The human body evolved to use fat and protein for energy, rather than carbs (no bread 100,000 yrs ago !) and will happily go back to that if you restrict the carb intake.
We only use carbs for exercise because the energy is easily utilised, but it also has unwanted effects on insulin levels in the body, and causes fat to be stored rather than consumed.
