What cycling related targets/aims/objectives do people have for the coming year? I'm thinking total mileage targets, specific races or sportives etc...

I'm going for:

Ride 4000km5000km
Sub 23 minute 10 mile TT
1 hour 25 mile TT
Finish top 5 teams in BUCS 3-up TT
Ride Dunwich Dynamo XVII in under 7 hours.
Ride 100 miles in under 5 hours.

I'm considering trying the metric century a month challenge as well.

EDIT: 4000km could be a bit low when the other targets take up 2000km of it! Let's raise the bar to 5000km.

I've clocked up over 3500 miles this year, so i'd like to beat that.

Not done an imperial ton, so that's on my list too & would like try the metric century a month challenge. Might just be able to squeeze one in this year for starters

I'm planning to do 5,000 miles in 2009. I'm on target at the moment (doing 400ish miles per month) but only started cycling again in May. Judging by my results on Cyclogs I'm slowly getting faster as an average speed. It will be good to start afresh in 2009 and see if I can keep up the distances and speeds and make that 5k!

a 300k ride,
Hardknott and Wrynose,
another tour in the UK somewhere,
an overnight ride to the East coast,
a calendar audax or two with real people,
try for 7,000 miles in the year,
not fall off,
see if a local bike builder can fit me in for a build (you know who you are )

that'll do nicely .

I haven't got any mileage goals, but my main aim is to get a new job I can cycle to. I'm looking at somethig which will give me a 20 - 30 mile each way commute. It'll either kill me or make me fittwer than I've been since my twenties!

My main goal is to get fit enough and fast enough to take part and finish with the main peloton in a 4th Cat race. My secondary aim but linked is to improve my hill climbing technique / stamina.

Edit: There - I have written it down one of the challenges in goal setting.

At the start of this week I clocked up 10k, I only clocked 9.6 last year and I'll be happy if I can do similar again. I might also take part in a few Sportifs. Folk at the club have suggested I should race but I don't know if I'm dedicated enough for that, I might give that a go next year too.

My mileage has eased off in the last two years since I started triathlons, so only about 4300km each of the past two. But since I am doing a half Ironman, and round Lake Geneva in a day (180km) my training should be enough to bump up the miles. Also doing a week training in Lanzarote with swimming bike and running every day!

No targets no aims ...jus tto keep on keeping on as before but more if possible. This years tours were not something I realistically thought I would ever do at the start of 2008...but I ****ing well did!!:becool::laugh:

besides another London to Paris (which i've just found out is going to be 40 miles longer and 108 miles on the 3rd day!!!!), me and 7 other commuters from work are going to try and clock up the mileage from London to New York over the year, and raise money for charity (only miles cycled to work count)

does any one know how to work out the specific mileage from a post code in U.K. to a zip code in U.S.?
