Not being funny fella's but you are all far fitter than some of the teenagers at my college ! When i say we have ridden x amount of miles for cake most say they could not even cope with 2 miles on a bike.......youngsters eh ?
Very true, but I want to be fit compared to fit people, not fit compared to unfit ones!
We do better than most ! Now when do we ride for cake again ??????
I'll see if I can come up with a route that we haven't done yet but that will be described in a new thread because I think we've hijacked this one enough now ... (Sorry JozeeB!)

If I am cycling with forum members, we usually have a cafe stop at about the halfway point. I usually have something like a toasted cheese and onion sandwich or beans and toast or a piece of cake, but if it is a long, hard ride I might have both cake and one of the other options!

I do solo rides up to about 45 miles on just drinks, but I'll carry food with me or call in at a shop on longer ones. I don't tend to do solo cafe stops.

It depressing when you are fit and find you've something wrong with you. I've been diagnosed with High Cholesterol, the bad type, but my triglicerides are fine. I'm 6'1" and 13st6, exercise regularly and have a pulse of 54 and normal blood pressure.

I walked in to see the nurse and she went through my lifestyle, well I already avoid saturated fat, don't drink heavily and eat plenty of fruit, veg and oily fish. Basically hereditary, gave me an excuse to get out on the bike more.

Despite the High HDL I'm supposed to have less than 10% chance of having a heart attack in the next 10 years according to the test I had, knowning my luck it will be on the bike.

In between here and there
I just have to look at a Nurse or Dr reach for a BP machine and my BP rockets, and I mean blows a gasket. Yet @ home 115-130 over 65-75 pulse 46.

Think thats why the doc wanted me to have home monitoring of it. I was getting similar readings to the doc and nurse at first, but then my appointments were on my way home for work after dealing with stressy situations!! (I work with teenagers in a college!).
I'm now working on the basic principle that cycling is generally good for me!! Even if some of it is 'feel good factor'. It certainly isn't bad for me!

Very frustrating for you to have something that isn't as a result of poor life style. At least you are doing all the right things to keep other risk factors low. Are you taking statins? I have a couple of friends who have had problems with them.
