Define cycling in the wind?
Felt more than comfortable in the 25mph head wind on Friday, a similar strength side wind can cause more problems however.

i dont mind a bit of wind but cant see the point in going out when really windy
to get to work?
only kidding- I know what you mean, it wasn't too hard to find reasons not to go for a pleasure ride this morning when the predicted winds didn't drop below 30mph.

i commute daily by bike and normally dont ride when it shows over 22 mph on bbc website as a rule of thumb

Normally I am fine in the wind, but I did become somewhat concerned today when the trees beside me at Llandegla forest were being uprooted and falling across the trails within feet of where we were.

Within reason (like going out in a hurricane) then no wind isnt a problem if you know how to ride in it - alot of it is being aware of your surroundings, gaps in hedges / trees, row of buildings then a street. Just places where you can go from being sheltered to being hit with a sidewind unexpected. It also depends on how big you are - heavier riders are going to cope better than someone who is lightweight.

I'm a bigger rider and I generally don't mind the wind although I was taken completely by surprise on a motorway bridge last week. The sudden side wind from the exposure of no hedges on the bridge caught me and wrenched the bars out of both hands. Only complete luck meant I didn't come off

Headwinds are a pain, tailwinds are great, but sudden sideways gusts, like through gateways in hedges etc, can be bl00dy dangerous. So mostly if the wind is being windy (>20mph) I stay in.

Just checked the weather (which for some reason I never do) and depressed myself.

The 20ish mph wind that seems to constantly be in my face when heading South is here for the whole of the next week also. I suspected it would be but seeing it in black and white is painful !
