cycling in the morning

Hi all not sure if I've posted this to the right place but I've just recently started cycling again to get a bit fitter and trying to go every day however because of work this means i need to go in the morning. When i went oit this morning i had a mega sugar crash and couldn't go as far as i have done previously (but that could be because i had to take a break so probably not as fit) so my question is what would be tge best thing to eat first thing to stop ot happening again?

Porridge? And carry some dextrose tablets?

Porridge :smile: with or without sugar, fruit, honey, however you prefer it. I just go for a half skimmed milk, half water gruel substance, don't like it sweetened

Porage. Usually with some syrup. Also, take a banana with you for an energy boost.

I've found sometimes it's a case of overdoing it the day before. I went out this lunchtime for an hour and was seriously slow compared to how i usually am, i did my first 30 mile ride yesterday and my legs were like lead today. I'm having a rest day tomorrow as i just couldn't get going at all today.

I think it's just because you are new. Keep going out - maybe take off a cpl of days per week, if you're feeling drained. For 20 mins I don't personally think you need to eat anything pre-ride. Maybe have a small glass of water before going out.

But eat something if you are riding for 20 minutes and then going to work. Would you normally forego breakfast and then do something active? Are you commuting?

If you're doing a 20 minute loop and then going home and can eat then perhaps it's not needed, but why shouldn't you just eat beforehand. I don't personally leave the house without breakfast even when flying off somewhere for work at silly o clock

It was just because I had a sugar crash on the first morning so didn't want to go out without something to keep me going.
I would normally have breakfast before work and I commute not cycle in just trying to get my fitness back up I used to be able to do a 10mile cycle without too many problems
