I'm still up for that, Colin. I could also make your GDF to Settle section quite a bit easier and quicker than your current plan with some rerouting to reduce both ascent and the use of the most laney of lanes.

Ah - I'd like to see your suggestions. I didn't spend ages looking at that part. I let cycle.travel do it for me and checked it on Street View.

Well, I’m hoping to stay healthy for some skiing in January, then a massive train adventure with MrsMIOW in March-May….rapidly followed by the cycling plans: Lôn Las Cymru with a pal a week later.
I will be totally un-bike-fit, so ever-so-slightly worried, but hey, it’ll be an adventure 🤪 We are planning to camp, just to add some more challenging elements to an already challenging ride 🤷‍♂️

I rode 4,500 mile including lejog in 2019 and I am ashamed to say that I have covered fewer miles each year since then. I am hoping to rectify this in 2023 and would also like to have a couple of outings with the tent during the year. I rather fancy the Coast & Castles ride in Northumberland too and visit places where my ancestors are from.

The ‘middle’ part of my 2021 LEJoG included some camping, & I have to say that those days/nights were a bit of a highlight for me.
Our Chepstow-to-Holyhead adventure next June will *all* be camping…..of course torrential weather could scupper the plans entirely, but hopefully it will all work well.
Good luck, sounds a blast!

Short answer: Just keep on keepin' on.

Nerdy answer: Distance challenge wise I'll be doing the metric century a month challenge. I found the imperial century challenge this year a bit tough. But I still plan to do at least four imperial centuries to get my Eddington number up to 100.

I'm organising a football related ride in May.
Lisbon Lions home towns tour.
All born in or around Glasgow.
So the plan is to ride round all of them on the anniversary of their famous win on the 25th of May 1967.
Probably around 90 miles . Starting in Saltcoats , the furthest away and finishing at Celtic Park.

Few 100 milers and other than that , get out as often as possible

A 100km ride is a nice winter distance. If cold or icy you can wait for it to warm up a bit. It doesn’t take all day. Can be done in daylight year round.

Lots of aspirations. It would be nice to get the panniers on again and I’ve been thinking about Ireland for a while. I’d also like to ride another 100 miler as it’s been about 10 years or more. But mainly it’s about finding some new roads in lovely places with great cafes.

wet wipe wash
My job is sweaty and smelly so i just have a deodorant blast as i have an "aroma" of burnt metal after work
I have to have a stand up wash in the disabled toilets using the hand basin at the moment. ( NB there has never been a disabled person on site in anyones memory) Its the only place with a lockable door where its possible to wash.

I have no special wishes. Main thing is for me staying healthy and to be able to continue as before. Cycling is not my only sport but it's still my favorite. I try to cycle 2 times a week. Not very much, I know. But I think it's not important HOW often you're riding but to DO it consistently.

Well, I have to admit, I have a second wish. I'm living in Germany and in my opinion it's especially a land for car drivers. It would be very nice if car drivers understand that it isn't an amusement to be overtaken that close. Nearly everytime this is gonna happen. Although I'm prepaired for this special behaviour I don't like it.

To make it worse we have a law to hold a minimum distance but the most car drivers don't care. So my first wish becomes important again, to stay healthy.

I notice it's different in different areas of Germany. What region do you live in?
