Cycling Glasses for Rain (Oakley)

Hi all,

I have recently got a set of Giro Havoks which i absolutely love! The only problem is they are useless in rain.

Are there any glasses out there that are still useful in heavy rain?

Misting or rain on the lenses causing problems?

Misting can be helped by using a slight smear of washing up liquid, rain on the lenses people have suggested using Rain X (or an equivalent) to help the water bead.


Worth noting that in the wet a lot of pro's just give up on glasses when riding.

This is one of the questions I wanted to ask but didn't.

I wear prescription sunglasses just now to cycle in, but when it rains, I need to take them off, as my eyesight is better than wet glasses!

Maybe I should try my clear prescription glasses instead when it rains,

I either wear reactolite prescription specs or disposable contacts under plain lenses.

a lot of the newer lenses anti-reflection lenses come with a hydrophobic coating, rain should just run off the lenses, I don't wear prescription lenses so can't say how good they work when cycling, but Oakley sell a kit which lets you apply the coating to any lens. have a look at this site,

£18!!!!! Rain-X isn't cheap, but it is cheaper than that and you will get a lot more for the money too! Last time I bought some Rain X it was about £9 a bottle.
