Or pedestrians using their phones... I spotted a teenager texting as she walked towards a crossing yesterday. I anticipated that she would walk out onto it in front of me without looking up so I slowed down in anticipation and stopped when she did, as did a car coming the other way. Death Wish 2024!
It's an interesting aspect of how cycling can change your non-cycling behaviour. I seem to also be doing a fair amount of walking in the countryside (lanes and fields) and on lanes I find walking on the grass verge a lot easier on the arthritis in my feet but also that I'm regularly having to step back into the road. And I find that without thinking every time I have to step onto the road I'm looking over my shoulder to see if anything coming, maybe because from cycling I've come to appreciate that cyclists are silent and EVs fairly quiet and that has be in the "look over my shoulder" habit.

Have you see the new film? It's rather good!

That looks good. Is it on Netflix?

I see your point. I imagine the counter is that neither motorists or motorcyclists can use hearing to help sense danger. Both rely entirely on sight.
No, good drivers listen, opening windows and pausing music. My last serious near miss, I heard the duffer rev up before he jumped his give-way line and into my path. (I don't claim to be good driver in general but that was a good bit IMO. Still surprised I missed them.)

On walks in country lanes I have been known to call "car back" on many occasions.

As cyclists we, as I believe with motorcyclists, have very good spatial awareness. In my opinion this plus the need as a cyclist to be very alert helps make us better than average drivers.

In all honesty I can't imagine opening a window to listen for traffic. I do open windows if visibility is poor, heavy rain etc. but not specifically to listen.

I do switch off the radio when reversing to park as I find that helps concentration.
