As Breakaways go, Rabottini has to be up there in the Giro.
I suspect Sarah Storey deserves something.
While on the track, Jody Cundy had a memorable contribution too...

Best team: I have to give it to Orico-Greenedge.... can't be any other team, if you have so much energy left during the Tour de France to do this:smile::

Best Newcomer: Together with Henao, for me Pinot should definitely be in the discussion, he was not only great in the earlier mentioned break-away, but was very constant throughout the whole Tour de France (which I rank higher qua competition then the Giro), which is why he ended up in the top 10.

Best Affirmation of Earlier Displayed Talent (a.k.a. we needed to see this result): This one goes to Froomey, but Tejay VG and Hesjedal get honorary mentions

Best (Most Complete) Rider of the Year: I am going to give it to Purito, who was the only one to show that he can (almost) win Grand Tours as 1-day Classics. (Oh yeah, also a little because he just missed winning Giro and Vuelta, while Wiggings and Sagan have enough beautiful victories)

Best Stage Race: I'm gonna be patriotic here and go with Stage 20 in the Giro (won by Thomas De Gendt), just because of how far he jumped away from the peloton and how long he was flirting with the (virtual) pink jersey.

Best sprint: Hands down Cav, it's funny that you see Sanchez thinking, "damn, the peloton caught us" when Cav flashes him by. But after 2 seconds of sitting down, he looks to the side and sees the rest is still not there, so he stands on the pedals again to take the podium finish. An honorary mention should go to the impressive up-hill sprint from Sagan in Stage 3 in the TdF. However this could have been - according to his own saying - an honorary mention for Kris Boeckmans (Who??? do you ask, yes... Boeckmans), who was in Sagan's wheel before the last turn with still a very good "cartouche" left to spend according to a (Belgian) interview after the finish line..If only he didn't make a complete fool of himself by steering the wrong way in that last turn (because - in my humble opinion - of course he was too tired to maintain focus:smile:)

Best 1-day Classic: Of course the impressive showing of Boonen in Paris- Roubaix, but I am definitely hoping that next year we see a duel of both Cancellara and Boonen in top-shape in the Tour de Flanders and Paris-Roubaix!

Best "old man" surprise: Oscar Freire, he was surprisingly strong in the "Spring classics" (if he would have been in my fantasy-team, I would have won the competition  ). To be fair, Chris Horner and especially Jens Voigt deserve a mention here, since they had a surprisingly goor TdF and are even much older.

Most Stupid Moment of the Season: Wiggins stopping the peloton on stage 14 after idiots threw tacks on the road. I know this is mentioned as "most sportive moment" earlier on, but come on it's racing... s**t happens....he stops the peloton basically because the "pre-race favourite" Evans had a flat tire. The peloton didn't stop for either Jurgen Vandenbroeck (Stage 7) or Froome (Stage 1) when they had flat tires in the first week and look where they ended up compared to Evans (and how much more interesting it could have been). You either stop the race every time whenever something goes bad (which is just plain stupid) or you just continue each time, otherwise it's just not fair in my opinion.

Disgrace of the Year: For me it's Vinokourov taking gold at the Olympics. And so to a lesser extent, Uran Uran taking the deal that Vino must have proposed him at one point or another (and just making a fool out of himself in trying to conceal that he is not throwing the Gold medal:whistle: )

Disgrace of the previous Decade: Well, I couldn't go without bring Lance up once ....

Team that needs to figure things out after this year's results: I have a feeling the sponsorless ex-Rabobank team and the WorldTour team snub for Katusha will sort itself out, but Argos is the team that will need to decide what to do with the Kittel -Degenkolb situation. 2 young and very promising sprinters can't co-exist (like Greipel couldn't stay with Cav) and they'll need to figure out what to do with that.
