Halfords do one (for 19.99) which just holds the rear wheel up but uses two hooks for the chain and seat stays. Has the advantage that there's no stand in the way of the rear mech like there is with cheap minoura option.

I've got one of those, and it's next to useless for back wheel / drivechain jobs. The (plastic covered) hooks are made of soft strip steel which easily bends and gets tangled in the spokes all too easily.

I picked up a Minoura W3300 in Halfords reduced to £43 (about half the price compared to anywhere else). It's THE best bike tool I've ever bought.

I got one as Christmas present:smile:

Wouldn't be without it now.
Bikes go on the stand even for the "mickle method" - saves me bending down.:girl:

I agree that a stand is not required just to clean a chain. I have a semi-pro stand and never use it just to clean a chain.

A "chain cleaner" is a waste of money as well. Just use old rags, tooth brush and a good citrus degreaser.

If you graduate to more complex repairs and adjustments, get a decent Park stand.
