Hi all

Is anyone familiar with Brixton, and where would be a good place to park the bike?
I'm going to Brixton Academy tomorrow night to see the Wombats, and thought I'd cycle there.

Thanks,
Ben

There's plenty of closer places...outside the tube for eg where it'd almost certainly be fine but for extra peace of mind I'd park it outside the Ritzy Cinema, about five minutes straightfoward walk from the Academy with plenty of Sheffield hoops.

It'll be overlooked by the cinema cafe. I've been leaving my bikes there for years no problems.

There are Sheffield stands right on the other side of Stockwell Road from the Academy, by the Nando's. Left my bike there when I did the same thing in February & it was fine.

Theres not much at the academy but as mentioned outside the Ritzy is relatively safe, and theres a load of racks just past M and S on the high Road, I 'd probably avoid the ones down the side of M and S at night and outside the tube.

And use two good locks, Lambeth is bad for bike theft

Thanks. I think I'll take my old MTB, so won't be devastated if it's pinched.

I'll go for the ones by Nandos, for proximity to the venue.

Cheers.

I'd go for the Ritzy - the ticket office staff poke their head out from time to time.

You could always drop by on the way back - I've still got your shirt!

Thanks Dell, but I'd feel a fraud having that shirt until I've done a Fridays ride.

Well, all was fine.
I came past the Ritzy cinema, but all the stands there were full, so I carried on down to the Academy, and locked it up by Nandos.

Everything was still there when I came out.
Had a lovely cycle through London down through Tooting, Colliers Wood and Morden, through to Epsom. Took an hour, which wasn't bad. Saw 3 foxes on the way.

Sorry, this does not make any sense. Did you say Tooting, Colliers Wood & Morden? *rubs eye's to check that's what he wrote*

Excellent. +1 to Ian's comment though, doesn't sound quite right...Merton perhaps?

I don't need to see the route. I know it very well... I lived in Colliers Wood and Morden for a while...

So the confusion is me describing my experience in those places as "lovely"?
I guess I see their redeeming features.

If you'd been to see Fleet Foxes instead of The Wombats I could have made a really excellent joke there. No, really.
