I'm with ETA for the insurance of both my bikes. 1 @ £1300, 1 @ £500. I paid £135 for the first year but will get a 40% discount for the second year. It includes race, breakdown, third person, accident, EU and world wide cover.

It was also one of the few companies that covered bikes that were locked up in a wooden shed.

Covering your 3 bikes was £420, but most of that was for the Trek and was based on a London postcode.

Here's an interesting recent blogpost about bike insurance (albeit with more of a touring focus):

ETA is my favoured option based on price and what people are saying about E and L (and my laziness to not investigate as suggested by one guy for myself).

Also found I can bring the premium down as one is already covered on my home insurance - they won't cover anything worth more than £1500 but least it's one less to insure.

An interesting read - I like the point about risk of it being stolen is pretty small on a tour usually so just take one or two more precautions. That follows my thinking that we probably insure ourselves too much for some things and don't always take the smartest approach. Without wanting to sound like I work in banking (which I don't) risks are worth balancing I think.

Didn't read every word but the bigger risk is probably falling off or (depending which country also) being knocked of.

Not sure if it helps but you can save cash by arranging your insurance through Quidco. It saves me a good bit of cash a year, as long as the insurance company is on the Quidco web site.
