so are people right when they say wireless can be inaccurate due to interference and do the wires on wired ones get in the way. cheers guys

I've not tried wireless, but i dont even notice my wired one on the bike, i cable tied the wires to my brake cables untill they met the frame, then just cable tie the wire to the front fork (obvoiusly wire side out just to be safe it doesnt catch the spokes if your forks are close to the wheel - mines got enough room to put a tractor wheel on there lol!)

I have never experienced any interference on my trek wireless, my boss has had they same one for 2.5 years and he said the same, but I only pass a few sets of traffic lights and they are on a motorway junction roundabout so I am concentrating too much on not getting run over to focus on the computer....

A colleague has just bought a cateye Strada which, if I am honest has a better interface and is easier to use with a one click function than the Trek. However the magnet on the spokes have to be much closer to the sensor on the fork for it to work properly. So be concious of this (although just looked at your profile pic and looks like you have a road bike so should not be a problem).

Another vote for the Aldi one, cracking bit of kit for the cash compared to other units with comparable functions.

Only thing it's missing is cadence but that doesn't really concern me at this point in my early cycling career!!.

I missed them first time around when they were in stock but if you look on eBay you will find plenty of exactly the same unit for sale.

Just search for "bikemate".

I've been reading this with interest, have a wired Sigma that cost about £25, seems ok once you decipher the 'oh so easy' instructions. Had been thinking about upgrading to wireless with cadence and am seeing units upwards of £100. Will keep the wired one on my 'pub' bike.

What do you get for your money computer wise? How big a problem is interference? Is this solved in a digital format?

Sorry, struggling to find decent reviews, any links would be great....thanks....Al

Lidl one available on Thursday. I have a previous Lidl model which has survived being dropped a couple of times and is still on its first set of batteries after 3,800 miles. It's a good bit of kit. I'll be buying a new on on Thursday as a backup.

Got a Pro Scio 3.5 ... The altimeter is predictably inaccurate, and I do suffer interference at one spot in my nearest town ( my top speed is apparently 55mph cos of this)...
It's pretty much indestructable though, which is good! My mate got a wireless one in an aldi clearout for £7.99 and hasn't failed him yet!

This Lidl one, dose anyone know if it will fit on my handle bar (spech tricross bike - 31.8mm handle bar according to spec)

I have a really old but still working perfectly fine one that I got from Aldi ages ago. Pulled it off my old mtb and tried to fit it to the new bike, but no chance it was going to fit, the bracket is way to small. Shame really because now ive got to buy another!

I Also had the same problem with the front light, I had to fit that over the bar taped area. The handle bar is vary fat in the middle. Is it wise to be fitting lights/computers etc on to the taped part of the handle bar???

I run two very old Cateye Vectra's - over 15 years old...both have been fine - just stop working if it's really hissing it down as water get's between the contacts - just a quick 'puff' (ooerr) sorts it...

I have an el cheapo Aldi wired..... on my commuter and my sons bike - totally waterproof, works, never been a problem.... Had them nearly 12 months..but a bit ugly....they are on MTB's so that doesn't matter.....

The Lidl one I got last April was affixed using cable ties so presumably would fit pretty much any handlebar diameter - if they haven't changed the overall fixing method.
