Measure twice cut once.
Really is not difficult!I wouldn't pay anyone to do this just as I wouldn't pay anyone to lube my chain
Carbon,Alluminium,Steel it really is not a difficult task

Synapse has quite a long headtube probably being an endurance model and all rather than racy

Looks good, you could always flip the stem to gain height back if needed. No point cutting it to still have spacers on top!

Yeah totally agree with you on that , it's funny but the bit of stem sticking out the top was starting to really irk me

Totally agree, one of my pet hates, loads of spacers above the stem, I usually have a 5mm on top but have run with non before.

I would ride the bike for a month or two with the spacers above the stem before cutting the steerer down, in case you change your mind!
