They will be a hundred miles away for at least 27 hours. All I have to do is stick down the lavatory seat above with yards of gaffer tape in case I forget.

Round here at Chateau Slomo , we take H&S very seriously. I have a couple of Lidl carrier bags and some rubber bands to cap off the open ends of the pipes. "Best Practice" I believe. BTW, will it keep the rats out?

There appears to be an earthing wire(usually fitted to gas pipes) on the pipe second closest to the one you want to cut.

One quick sideways movement of the angle grinder will dispatch any rat stupid enough to go the wrong way. Then mount it's head on the leftover copper pipe and leave in the soil pipe as a warning to the others.
