At home we are fine, but at work, teaspons have a half-life of about 6 hours, they naturally decay into plastic bags and thereafter into council circulars. This is their stable state hence the accumulation of council circulars in the staff room and the steady decrease in the number of teaspoons.

Teaspoons go to some parallel universe which is also inhabited by socks.
