Hi,

I currently have a 10 speed Deore setup running an 11 speed chain.

I'm after a larger chainring (from 36t to 42t) and stumbled across this -

CUES FC-U4000 chainset; for 9/10/11-speed; 170 mm; 42T

I know about the (lack of) Cues and Deore compatibility, but as I'm running an 11 speed chain, do you think I could use the FC-U40000 (without replacing any of the other drivetrain components).

Note - It would fit the bike size wise and I'm going to check the existing chainline.

Thanks

The first question is why you're not just replacing the chainring on your existing crankset with a 42t item..?

The second point with reference to the crankset you're looking at is that you do know it's square-taper fitment; while presumably the Deore crankset is hollowtech (the two being incompatable and requiring different BBs)..?

Also the U400000000000 has a riveted-on chainring, essentially making the whole thing disposible once its worn out, which doesn't seem very clever.

As to actual compatability, I think you probably could get away with what you suggest - have a look at Path Less Pedeled on youtube as mixing and matching CUES and other stuff has been covered to some depth in some of Russ' vids.
