For all we know the OP may have only cycled one mile.

It depends on way too many variables to discuss.

Last weekend I did a 69 mile audax at an average speed of 12.48 mph. I wouldn't say though this was cruising, I hadn't done this sort of distance for a long time so was conserving a lot of energy in the tank so that I could make it round.

Today I did 39.1 miles at an average of 16.1 mph, which probably was near comfortable cruising as I managed it for 2 hrs 20 mins. But I felt worse afterwards than I did after the Audax, my legs are still burning, but then I didn't get the opportunity today to have a pint of Tribute Ale, which of course is a well known muscle healant.
 
What are these "smooth roads" and "flat roads" that you speak of? I'm not sure I've ever met either of them

mmm smooth new tarmac, flat and no wind who knows whats poss , i can do 28 mins on broken lumpy tarmac in horrible rain though howeve my avg crusing speed is about 15 mph ,dropped to 13 mph on a 150 mile run though,all polaris computer averages ,18 mph avg is dam quick i think and not cruzing
