Crumbling new plaster...

I had a velux window and plastering done about 6 months ago. With time, I noticed some equally-spaced raised areas. Today I removed the raised flaky plaster and there is a plaster-screw under each one (see pic).

I suppose I could use polyfilla over the top of them, but I was wondering if the same thing might happen again [?]. Anyone had experience of this sort of thing before?

Shouldn't they be papered over before painting? Not that I'm allowed to go anywhere near paint or plaster in our house, so I might be talking doo-doos.

Not on my walls, but in many parts of the artex on my ceilings. I just use polyfiller and they don't usually reappear.

from what I've been told by people working on my house, plaster should be put on in a two layer process, bonding plaster to stick to the wall etc with the finer skim of plaster put over to allow for painting etc.

Two layers of skim are applied within 20min of each other (on plasterboard), this looks like the screws weren't sunk enough. Just polyfilla them and it'll be good.

I was a plasterer for 5 years

Maz, all that's happened is someone has been hammering close to the plasterboarding which has caused the plasterboards to vibrate against the timber supports causing the board fixings to pop the plaster skim covering them. Happens all the time. Just poly-filler over and paint... they'll be fine.

And that looks like a single thick finish 'skim'.

Is the board firmly fixed? The screws don't look like they are sunk into the board surface to me. They should be just flush, denting the board paper but not tearing it. Maybe the board has been 'pushed' home leaving the screws proud of the board and knocking a bit of plaster off.
It may be worth winding them in a bit further before filling.

I've not had that happen with any of my professionally finished board walls and ceilings. A couple of my own attempts have 'popped' but I'm not a plasterer.

I think someone has been slamming the window shut, as it looks like the paint has parted from the plaster where the frame meets the plaster well.
Polyfiler and paint is the solution
