Some years ago my MiL in her late 70's wanted an elevctric bike

Atte time "Open Road" were selling a ZZap Electricruiser, si I bought it with the intention of taming it down, but she loved it!

PArt of the fun was that it was sligly overpowered due to her slight build so accelaration was billiant and sehe would "race" teenagers at lights!

Definitely form over function,

That's why I want one, that's why I ride a metal 1962 scooter not a modern plastic one that is better in every respect apart from it's aesthetic appeal, the latter doesn't have any. Anyway, I do have other bikes..........but I want a cruiser to bumble along the canal to Leeds drawing admiring glances from all the footpath traffic.^_^

I never thought of classic Vespas as form over function. They're the purest distillation of function over form...

They've possibly looped round the other side. One of my neighbours runs a mid-70s Vespa. He looks cool as f*ck going to work in the morning - parka over his suit, fag hanging out of his mouth...

Probably 12v then, mine is 6v, self regulating bulbs, one goes then they all go, I can't use it in the winter, not much function there.....

Nice colour

Been looking on the Pashley website and they have some lovely looking cruiser style bikes. The tube rider looks good, like the colours.

Also lack of any cabling, and single speed dropouts on rear.

....the link does indeed show it's a single speed. However, if it had a Sturmey Archer S2C 2-Speed Coaster Brake Kick Shift Hub, it would have 2 speeds and a brake, and no cables. Same would be true if it had a SRAM Automatix 2 Speed Coaster Brake Hub.

Not sure what's meant by 'single speed dropouts' - horizontal dropouts perhaps? These can be used for single speed, fixie, or any type of internally geared hub

I think I will buy this for £130 if the guy will meet me half way. I've spent more in the past on parts building up bikes. Think I could get a lot of use from it, on the canal towpath and cruising around Saltaire. Have a tan leather rucksack ready & waiting.........
