Tried the 5mm allen key test and it really is a tight fit for me above the front tyre. Anybody fitted them to a Focus Cayo 105? I have 23c tyres not the original 25c.

Agree-similar situation here.

The Mk2's are very good guards for thin tyres.

Perhaps go for SKS raceblades, noting that your bike will get full of crap around the bb/front mech/brakes.

Or fit a mish-mash of the 2 like I have done
RB's on front and rear, with the extra bit of the MK2 Cruds to protect the front mech cable tied on.
Then a part of the cruds bolted onto the front RB to make a longer 'mudflap' for extra splash protection, looks crap but so do I

Actually, as I mentioned to you on our last ride together - you have definitely gone through a real transition this year.

At the start of the year, I watched you trying to grovel up one particular steep hill but then have to dismount.

Eventually, you were able to struggle your way to the top.

Another month or two passed and you were able to get up it without grovelling.

The last time we did it, you made it look pretty effortless as you rode away from me!

You've lost weight and are sitting better on your bike. How can I put it? Yes - you look like a cyclist!

All I can say is - Chapeau, sir!

These have transformed my wet weather riding - feet, legs, backside much, much dryer and bike cleaner - front mech protection excellent.
I found them quite tricky to fit though....but well worth the effort.

I have them fitted to my secteur which i've changed to ultegra brakes which at this time of year i run with 25mm Marathon+'s.....can just fit a 5mm allen key between brake and tyre.

They do rub at times a little - i just put up with it as the pro's outway the con's...

Fitted to Marathon Pluses 700x25 (about the same as the 28s they replaced) with no problems other than with toe overlap - Crud's customer service dept saw me right twice though and replace all damaged parts.

Thanks for that Glover Fan. I was looking to buy the Crud Mk2's before this thread was started so I will go ahead and purchase them now.

I bought some Cruds last week without being aware of the 5mm Allen key test. Bugger - the feckers won't fit on my Basso. 23mm tyres too, but with fag-paper clearances. Thus soggy-arsed rides will still be the order of the winter season.

It's a shame as they look very well thought-out, so I reckon I'll keep them and bung them on bike number 3 1/2 when I build it up.

Had to move my computer magnet and sensor down towards the hub as it fouled the stays.

Worked fine on 23c but very tight on 25c
