Sent an email to Cruds about what suggestions they would do for a rear front nose that's too short where it meets the rear stays, this is what i wrote,
Hi, i bought a second set of crudcatcher 2 for my summer bike and the rear nose is too short by about 2-3 inches and when there is rain it fails to get rid of the water effectively and chucks all the water and debris all over the rear stays and back on to rear wheel and reducing my braking and fills my front derailleur cable exit on the frame full of debris clogging it up, is there anything that you propose to do about it because as is, its not doing what it is supposed to do.
This is what i got from them,
You can effectively extend the length of the chain set part with thin packaging tape.
See pics….I have just done this at my desk to give you the basic idea. You can use as many layers of tape as you like but it won’t take much as there is no strength needed

Cheers

I replied with,
Im 5 11, so i pay £20 plus on a £1300 bike and you want me to add some bit of packing tape? are you serious, is that the best solution you can come up with, how about redesigning the product instead to fit all bikes, this is going on the cycling forum i use, cant wait for all the pith taking, im staggered.
Then got this back,
I instinctively knew it was a big mistake taking the trouble to try to help you. The problem you mention applies to a tiny percentage of bike frames.
By all means post away on the forum if you have nothing better to do

So i sent this,
You went to all that trouble of supplying all the spare nose and tail for front and rears, did it not occur to you that you might run into problems of not supplying an extension for that part of the rear nose, its got nothing to do with i have got nothing better to do, there is a safety aspect to loads of water getting splashed on to the rim of the wheel, im saying a child could of come up with that idea, i had better ones, and that sort of response from a managing director makes you sound like a 20year old, and shouldn't you be a bit more Sensible like the title of your company is called and be a bit more professional about it.
I haven't had anything back, unbelievable or what.

Sorry guys pics haven't loaded, its an Aspx file and don't know how to convert and load, but the basic idea is strips of packing tape lined lengthways on the inside and outside, imagination needed.
Managed one pic.

Why do you think the range is called Crud?

I don't see what the price of your bike has to do with an accessory not designed for it not fitting it?

You spend £20 on something that doesn't fit your bike. That's a bit annoying. But not that annoying - no-one said it would. I's suggest you buy other guards that do fit, personally.

What did you want Crud to do? Email back saying that they were going to redesign their product so it would fit perfectly on the many thousands of different bike frames in the world?

My first bike was a Triban 3 and was 2 years ago and fitted great and did its job, the point i was making was that any company worth its salt would come up with such a childish way of solving the problem, I would of took the iniative to do a bit of market research and figured not all bikes are the same and factored that in the design at stage 1and give customers the option to fit accordingly, i just found it a bit funny considering it was from someone called SENSIBLE PRODUCTS LTD.

I'm not surprised by their second response. You were pretty rude.
+1
What sort of response did the OP expect , at least they bothered to respond .If i had received such bile it would have been filed under bin .

They look good, did you know they would fit ok before buying or take a chance?

No took a chance. However I read a review by a guy that had fitted them to a CAAD8 so was pretty certain they would be OK. If they didn't fit I would have sent them back.

Crudcatchers are designed to stop the worst of the crap off your back wheel from splattering your arse, not to prevent water splashing on your bike. There really is no safety issue. As for threatening to post on a forum, I bet your emails are doing the rounds in the office at Crud Towers. They are pretty rude funny and you really need to learn how to use punctuation properly.

Incidentally, I just replaced my cruds with full guards, which do a proper job, so if anyone wants a set they're going spare...
