You could possibly cut off the 2 pin plug from the original charger, and attach a standard 3 pin UK plug instead. (If the charger allows this, and If it will run directly off 240 volts, without a converter). Simple to do - Just make sure you don't cut off too much insulation!

If you're worried about it shorting out, you could always use an RCD breaker socket adapter.

About the charging light staying on: A lot of charger LED's will remain on for a short while after unplugging, being powered by charged up capacitors inside the charger (I know my laptop chargers do this) - Or it could be because the charger doesn't have a diode preventing current flowing from the battery to the charger LED when unplugged - If it is charging fine, then this shouldn't be a problem.

Okay, so sorry to be really uninformed here but you'd presumably open up the wires from the old charger and put them into a 3 point plug? Hopefully the colours of the wires will be the same as they are over here!!!

In theory, yes, but it depends heavily on the type of plug/charger as to how easy this job is - Basically, if it is the type of plug with the charger electronics/transformer built in, then it won't work. If it is a simple plug, as shown below, it should be a fairly easy job - As long as you are able to strip the insulation from the wire.

If gotten wrong, the results.. well, they won't be great - So if you're not sure, it's best to ask someone who is to do it.

Just checked mate, the electronics and transformer are all built in, but thanks anyway. Looks like at least a soldering job for the two red wires that lead to the power cable itself and the blue and brown wires are attached to the chip.

Ne'er mind.
