I have an AVI movie file and it's associated subtitles file (.srt). I've been trying to create a DVD with the film and subtitles together but Nero doesn't want to play ball.

Does anybody know of a (preferably free) piece of software that will do this for me. I'm not fussed if the subtitles are hardcoded on the film.

Funnily enough I was just having the same problem the other night, but turned to my trusty freeware burner, ImgBurn, which did the trick. Dropped the avi and the srt files in the file window and hit go.

Just tried it - it created a ZIP file containing the separate AVI and SRT files. This doesn't seem to be burnable as it is.

The forum suggests it's not possible. Are there options I need to set before the build. I'm starting the task marked "create image file from files/folders" - is this correct?

BTW - I've been following the "Wet Shave" thread where you've added some interesting posts and after a few attempts managed to get a really close shave using a DE razor without any nicks. It's taken a while to get used to not pressing the razor against the skin. I'm tempted to try a straight razor but am wary of buying the wrong razor and/or ruining it with beginners mistakes. Any recommendations for a first straight razor?

Cheers

I used to burn Asian films to disc (mainly horrors) and have a memory (not necessarily correct though) that I used DVD Decrypter and it bundled the subs with it... if not on all the time then it did allow them to be chosen by whatever means (via your remote if watching on TV or via the software on your computer).

I think I used "write files/folders to disk" as my DVD player plays AVI files and will use the subtitile file.

For a first straight, see point 5 in Neil's article here: http://theshavingroom.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=158
If you drop him an email, he'll help you with any questions you have - he was the one who made sure I picked the right straight when I got my first one!

Thanks guys.

I got ImgBurn to work, as you mentioned, by burning straight to disk. It looks like it creates another AVI file but with the subs this time.

This time Nero should be able to use it and I can add the menu/wallpaper as well.

Cheers
